Abstract
The Sulawesi Barat Gender Inequality Index (GII) in 2022 was 0.510, down 0.033 points compared to 2021 which was 0.543.
The decline in the Gender Inequality Index (GIIs) of Sulawesi Barat is influenced by improvements in the dimensions of reproductive health, empowerment and labor markets.
Improvement of the reproductive health dimension is influenced by the improvement of indicators of female giving birth not in health facilities which dropped from 20.4 percent in 2021 to 13.1 percent in 2022.
The improvement of the empowerment dimension is influenced by the improvement of indicators of representation percentage in the legislature for women who increase while men have decreased. The percentage of women increased from 11.11 percent in 2021 to 11.36 percent, while the percentage of men declined from 88.89 percent to 88.64 percent in 2022.
The improvement of the labor market dimension is influenced by improving indicators of women's workforce participation levels which increases higher than men. The percentage of women increased from 54.38 percent in 2021 to 58.22 percent, while the percentage of men increased from 86.10 percent to 87.71 percent in 2022.
