Majene's Inflation in September 2026 Driven by Food, Beverage, and Tobacco Expenditure Group

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of Majene Regency recorded a monthly inflation rate of 0.56 percent in September 2026. On a year-on-year basis, inflation in Majene Regency stood at 2.24 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 111.96. Meanwhile, year-to-date inflation reached 2.77 percent.
Monthly inflation in September 2026 was primarily driven by the food, beverage, and tobacco group. "The food expenditure group made the most dominant contribution to monthly inflation, with bird's eye chilies and red chilies being the key commodities driving the rise," said Dina Srikandi. In addition to these two commodities, other items contributing to inflationary pressure included bananas, commercial chicken eggs, limes, palm sugar, commercial chicken meat, mobile phones, coconut oil, and bottled water.
On a year-on-year basis, all expenditure groups recorded an increase in their indices. The group recording the highest increase was personal care and other services at 3.63 percent, followed by household appliances, equipment, and routine maintenance at 3.51 percent, and transportation at 3.30 percent. Meanwhile, the food, beverages, and tobacco group experienced inflation of 2.50 percent.
In terms of contribution to annual inflation, the food, beverage, and tobacco group made the largest contribution at 0.99 percent, followed by the transportation group at 0.36 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group at 0.22 percent; and the household furnishings, equipment, and routine maintenance group at 0.19 percent. Key commodities contributing to annual inflation included bird's eye chili, red chili, gold jewelry, bottled water, lubricants, milkfish, and granulated sugar.
These price trends indicate that inflationary pressure in Majene Regency in September 2026 was driven by price changes in several commodities, particularly food items. BPS Majene Regency continues to monitor price developments and provide accurate, reliable statistical data to support inflation control efforts and data-driven policy formulation.
